Homeschool Co-Op
Learning and growing together.
Are you looking for a homeschool group to help build a community for you and your children? Learning and growing together in a Christ-centered community is important for kids of all ages! You are invited to join us on this journey!
Schedule:
Tuesdays from 11:00-3:30
Spring Quarter
(March 28th - May 23rd)
-
Bible: Explore the Bible through Art!
Together we will listen to The Jesus Storybook Bible and recreate the stories using various art supplies and building materials. By the end of the quarter, we will have our own version of the storybook Bible to flip through and recall all that God has done for us!
-
History: Victorian Era, The History of Flight, & The Cold War Era
We will take a closer look at some specific people and important events during the 1800 and 1900's using curriculum from The Good and the Beautiful. We'll explore historical figures such as Queen Victoria, George Stephenson and the invention of the steam engine, Florence Nightingale, The Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson and President Ronald Regan. We'll gain a great insight into the past as we learn how history brought us to where we are today.
-
Music: Let's Start at the Very Beginning
Music is such a beautiful addition to our world! Wether your child loves to sing and has begun their own musical journey or your child has never participated in a group musical setting, they will be sure to feel right at home as we start at the beginning. Using Prodigies Music Videos as our guide, we will sing, clap, and play along. Using classroom instruments, we'll learn the notes in the C Major scale and begin to play along with both new and familiar songs!
-
Science: Marine Biology
Let's explore the wonders and beauties found in the depths of the ocean! We'll dive deep below the waves to explore God's glorious creations. Using the Marine Biology unit study from The Good and The Beautiful we will dig into this exciting topic. We'll conduct hands-on experiments to bring our classroom to life and make learning come alive!
-
Gardening: Sprouting Ideas
Part of our day will be spent digging in the dirt and learning the practical life skills of home gardening. We'll spout our own seeds, learn about the essentials of maturing those sprouts into plants and head into summer with the makings of our very own gardens. Gardening gloves and and garden spades will be our classroom tools as learn together.

For the Spring Session and the five classes outlined above, there is a one time fee of $30 per student.

SONLIGHTERS
Senior Adult Ministry
As seniors at Amherst Community Church, we seek to promote, encourage and maintain fellowship and dignity of senior citizens, 55 years and better.
We seek to build our lives around Matthew 5:16, to let our light shine to others and seek to reflect Jesus, the True Light.
Throughout the year, we gather as a group to enjoy a short day trips and meals at a local restaurants. In the past, we have visited P. Grahm Dunn, taken a historical canal boat ride, visited local craftsman and museums as well as toured historical homes.
We seek to celebrate life by enjoying time together and having new experiences throughout the year!
